Vintage United Tribes of New Zealand flag on chambray fabric. Flag also known as the Te Kara flag. Vintage gold finished wood frame measures 21.25" x 23.25". Under glass. Flag has scattered wear but displays beautifully. Frame in very good condition.
The Te Kara flag originated in the 1830s as New Zealand ships lacked recognition under international maritime law and were vulnerable to being seized in ports abroad.
