The Bennington flag is one of the most recognizable early American flag designs, traditionally associated with the Revolutionary War era. Its distinctive arrangement features thirteen stars forming a large seven-pointed pattern around the number “76,” referencing the year of American independence. While often linked to the Battle of Bennington in 1777, most surviving examples actually date to the early 19th century, suggesting it became popular as a commemorative symbol rather than a true wartime standard. With its bold geometry and historic resonance, the Bennington flag remains an enduring emblem of American identity and patriotic pride.
