Set of four oil paintings on board by Ray Wilcox (American, 1883-1959). Two ship portraits, and two waterside landscapes. Artwork framed in coordinating, custom gold wood frames. The largest measures 5.75" x 7.25". Artwork and frames in very good condition with light wear.
Wilcox was a painter of ships and other marine subjects, Mr. Wilcox had exhibitions at the National Academy of Design and the Corcoran Gallery in Washington. Among leading examples of his work are "Baptist Hill" and "Captain's House." He wrote a history of the Six Nations, a confederation of North American Indians. Mr. Wilcox belonged to the American Artists Professional League and the Salmagundi Club. He was the husband of artist Ruth Turner Wilcox.
