Ruth Dawes Wilcox (American, 1908-1989) oil painting on canvas of the historic Stone House at Bull Run in Manassas, Virginia. The Stone House at Manassas National Battlefield Park is a two-story stone structure in Prince William County, Virginia. It was built as a stop on the Fauquier and Alexandria Turnpike in 1848. During the American Civil War, The Stone House served as a hospital during the First and Second Battles of Manassas. The artist, Wilcox, was the daughter of artists Ray Wilcox and Ruth Turner Wilcox, fashion illustrator and fashion editor of Women's Wear Daily from 1910-1915. Artwork in contemporary gold wood frame measures 27.25" x 31.5". Signed lower right. Artwork and frame in very good condition.
