A gripping watercolor on paper by French artist Paul Jobert (1863-1942) of a fisherman trudging along the shoreline wearing a woven basket full of fish. The morning sun rising in the distance.
Paul Jobert was a French painter born in Algeria. He had studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Algiers and later in Paris. He specialized in portrait painting and marine art. From 1891, he became an official marine painter. He also competed in the painting competition during the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Signed lower right. The artwork in frame measures 14" x 22.5". Both artwork and custom gold frame are in very good condition.
