Lorraine Lans (American / Maine, 20th-21st century) oil on panel lavender-hued winter harbor view landscape. Titled Winter View, Maine. Signed "L.S. Lans." Artwork in custom gold frame with linen liner measures 27.25" x 23.25". Artwork and frame in very good condition with a few small, shallow, touched up chips to frame.

Lorraine Lans captures the beauty of the Maine coast through plein air painting in the Impressionist tradition. She studied under master Impressionist Henry Hensche at the Cape School of Art in Provincetown, Massachusetts, and at Boston’s historic Fenway Studios. Originally from Massachusetts, Lans has made Maine her home for more than fifteen years, painting landscapes across Monhegan Island, Acadia, and the fishing village of Stonington.

Her work has earned numerous honors, including the top award at the Academic Artists Association’s 57th National Exhibition in 2007. She has exhibited in national juried shows at the Salmagundi Club in New York, the Ventura County Maritime Museum in California, the Boston Athenaeum, and the “Salon International 2004” and 2005 exhibitions at Greenhouse Gallery of Fine Art in San Antonio, Texas—recognized for excellence in realism. Lans was also awarded an artist residency at Acadia National Park, and her paintings have been displayed in the Governor’s Mansion in Augusta, Maine. Her art appears in A Gallery of Marine Art and has been featured in publications including Cape Cod Review, Ellsworth American, Waterville Sentinel, and Manchester Journal.
