Born in New York, Ginsburg came to California in 1949. A talented, lifelong artist, she studied at the prestigious Otis Art Institute from 1953 through 1956. She allowed her artistic expression to meet the canvas without restraint, playing with shape, color, and light, in a variety of abstract and geometric works. She returned frequently to the human form, with portraits, and figure drawings. Her love of travel and the outdoors are reflected in her many landscapes. An insightful and prolific artist, she often did quick sketches in pencil or ink when pausing on an excursion or if something caught her eye. She painted people as she saw them, expressive in every aspect. Adventurous in both her life and her art, she experimented extensively, playing with abstract forms or executing multiple studies of a model in charcoal or pencil. Her work was primarily paintings and drawings, but also includes several sculptures and mixed media pieces.
