A beautifully composed and richly colored 1961 still life oil painting on board of a bottle of the French brandy, Armagnac, alongside a blue and white plate and a reticulated bread basket on top of a red striped tablecloth by Bertrand Edouard de Champeaux (French, 1885-1962). Signed at dated 1961 at top right. The back of the frame has a fragment of a sticker from the famous Parisian department store, “Au Bon Marché”. Champeaux exhibited starting in the 1920s at the Salon des Artistes Français, at the salon of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts, and at the Salon d’Automne. He is also listed in the Bénézit Dictionary of Artists. Artwork in original, lightly gilded wood frame measures 12" x 13.75".
