Heather Carey is a West Chester, Pennsylvania-based mixed-media artist with a degree in Fine Arts and more than 25 years of experience in art therapy. Her work combines painting, hand-pulled monoprinting, collage, pattern, and layered color to create pieces that feel both contemporary and familiar.
Animals are a recurring presence in Heather's work, but they are rarely simply portraits. Horses, dogs, and other familiar figures become vehicles for personality, movement, memory, and connection. Bold silhouettes, unexpected patterns, and expressive color allow each piece to suggest a story beyond the image itself.
