Frank Stanley Herring (American, 1894-1966) oil painting on board of a colorful and vibrant coastal town situated on a hillside. This is a show stopping piece. Herring was known for his portraits of the American South, and the cotton genre in particular. Several of Herring's works are held by the Smithsonian.
Art measures 15" x 19" in frame. Signed lower right. Painting in very good condition with only two very small areas of loss at the bottom corners. Frame is period, and has scattered losses and dings, but it complements the piece beautifully, and is very much in displayable condition.
