A 1936 pastel portrait of a gentleman by Florence Prince Ewing (American, 1898-1965). Artwork in original, art deco style gold wood frame measures 23" x 17.5". Artwork and frame in very good condition with scattered, light, age appropriate wear.
Noted 20th century Philadelphia artist, Florence Prince Ewing, graduated from the Philadelphia School of Design (Moore College of Art), and exhibited at institutions including the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, National Gallery in Washington, D.C. and the Woodmere Art Museum. Ewing was one of the original founders and a director of the Manyunk Art Center and active in the Plastic Club of Philadelphia.
