Dominique Obeniche (French, 1949-2018). Founder of the Obeniche Galleries. After studying art, his professional career led him to advertising and illustration. At the age of 30, overwhelmed by Rembrandt's "Boeuf écorché" in the Louvre, he rediscovers classical painting. His path seemed to be clear and his first paintings quickly attracted the eye of the amateur. Obeniche reinvents the still life, he makes it modern, timeless, alive, his fruits of a seizing reality are more than their representation, their perfection becomes a symbol of maturity, plenitude, achievement when the landscape in the background discreetly recalls the belonging, the permanence, the immanence!
Becoming one of the essential masters of still life, he has received numerous awards throughout his career, including the great Vermeille medal of the Academy of Arts, Sciences and Letters. Obeniche has exhibited in the most important galleries in France, in the USA (Wally Findlay) and in Japan.
