Growing up in Atlanta, Georgia, Diane Flanagan studied portraiture with renowned Russian artists Constantine and Roman Chatov. Through their mentorship, she learned to bring portraits to life with bold strokes and vibrant, expressive color.
A new opportunity emerged when she began training as a restoration artist in Midtown Atlanta, where she developed a deep understanding of the transparent earth pigments used in 18th- and 19th-century art. Years later, after moving to Minnesota, Diane entered the full-time program at the Richard Lack Atelier Studio of Fine Art, where this earlier training proved invaluable as her technical skills continued to grow.
Today, Diane Flanagan celebrates the joy of painting and creating, embracing art as both a gift and a way to build community through shared creative expression. As her work continues to evolve, it reflects a commitment to truth, authenticity, and a strong classical foundation.
She maintains studios in Minnesota and Atlanta.
