Alison Diamond McElroy acrylic on canvas large scale abstract floral titled Field of Heather II. This luminous painting depicts a stylized field of flowering stems rising into a green sky, rendered in layered dots and expressive brushwork. Delicate blossoms in shades of white float above a dense base of cool green foliage, creating a sense of depth and gentle movement. Repeated circular marks and subtle color variation gives the surface a textured, atmospheric quality, evoking the feeling of standing within a blooming meadow. Both fresh and serene, the composition captures the quiet beauty and vitality of nature through a contemporary, abstracted lens. Artwork in gold, custom floater frame measures 25.75” x 25.75”. Signed lower right. Titled and signed on reverse. If you will be making a local pickup at our Malvern, PA gallery contact us for a pickup discount.

As early as she can remember, Alison was drawn to drawing and painting, often losing herself in the process. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Art and Art Education from Miami University before beginning a career in merchandising design with fashion houses in New York City and Los Angeles. Since 2013, she has focused fully on her art, developing a fluid painting style inspired by her time living along the Pacific Ocean and her travels to Maine and the beaches of the East Coast. She primarily works in acrylic, with occasional pieces in mixed media and watercolor.

Artist Statement

Alison believes that a connection to nature defines the human spirit, and that belief guides her work. From broad abstractions of land and sea to detailed botanicals, she uses color, layering, and texture to shape each painting. She often reflects on personal experiences as layers that build over time, much like her creative process. A painting that appears finished may rest for months before she returns to add final layers. Drawing on her background in design, her work balances strong aesthetics with a sense of depth and context. Her paintings are bold, warm, and thoughtful, reflecting the positivity and significance of nature while bringing joy and meaning into a space. She blends modern sensibilities with traditional subject matter, combining abstract and contemporary ideas with gestural brushwork and sculpted floral details to create harmony through contrast.
