Alfred Henry Hart (1866-1953) late 19th century watercolor coastal scene. Boats beached on the shore, people mingling at the dock, and a multicolored town on the hillside beyond them. Signed lower left. Artwork in delicate, vintage gilded frame measures 16.75" x 20.5". Artwork and frame in very good, age appropriate condition with light wear.
Alfred Henry Hart (1866-1953) was a painter and architect who studied at the Royal Academy Schools in London, where he was awarded a Gold Medal; and at the Architectural Association in London, which awarded him a silver medal. After visiting France and Belgium on a traveling scholarship, he commenced independent practice in London in 1894. Hart was also a member of the Brighton Art Club. He exhibited the Royal Academy, the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colors, and Walker's Gallery in London.
