Albert van Nesse Greene (American/PA, 1887-1971) pastel of Historic Yellow Springs in Chester Springs / Chester County, Pennsylvania. Artwork in custom gold frame measures 24" x 26.5". Artwork and frame in very good condition.

Albert van Nesse Greene (American/PA, 1887-1971) Albert Van Nesse Green (born in Jamaica, New York in 1887) built an impressively comprehensive artistic education, studying at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., the Art Students League in New York, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia, and later in Paris at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière. After settling in Chester County, he devoted much of his career to painting the surrounding landscapes, as well as scenes from neighboring Bucks County.

His work was widely exhibited throughout the United States and France and is represented in notable collections including the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and the National Gallery of Art. Green was an active member of the Philadelphia Sketch Club, the Society of Independent Artists, and the Yellow Springs Artists Association, and he showed regularly with the Society of Washington Artists, the Pennsylvania Academy, and the Salons of America.
