Antique Charles Martin (1884-1934) Le Chapeau en Porcelaine (The Porcelain Hat) pochoir art deco fashion portrait. It is from Gazette du Bon Ton, and is dated 1920. Pochoir is a refined French stencil-based printmaking technique, popular in the early 20th century, used to create detailed, layered, and colored prints, often using gouache or watercolor applied with a specialized brush called a "pompon". Unlike simple stenciling, this labor-intensive process involves creating, by hand, individual, precise stencils for every single color. Artwork in vintage gold frame measures 14" x 13". Mounted on lavender hand marbled paper. Artwork and frame in very good condition. Coordinating piece available in separate listing.
